Georeferenced Facade Orthophotos

The primary objective of this mission was to produce high-precision georeferenced facade orthophotos of the Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume Convent. This operation aimed to assess the current condition of the facades, identify potential anomalies or deterioration, and establish an accurate visual and technical database for the planning and execution of future renovation works.
As a major historical monument founded in the 13th century, the convent requires meticulous documentation to ensure a faithful and lasting restoration.
To achieve this, a DJI Air 2S drone—equipped with advanced sensors and a high-resolution camera—was deployed. Detailed imagery and real-time data were collected and then processed via photogrammetry to generate georeferenced orthophotos with a very high degree of accuracy.
This method significantly reduces the risks associated with manual inspections and provides safe access to hard-to-reach areas, all while ensuring a faithful capture of the building's structural state. The resulting data offers a reliable analysis, essential for coordinating restoration efforts.
Furthermore, the use of drone technology guaranteed optimal efficiency by reducing inspection times, costs, and disruptions to the convent’s daily activities. These orthophotos now serve as an invaluable technical foundation to guide future renovation phases and ensure the long-term preservation of this exceptional heritage site.
