The primary objective of this mission was to conduct a detailed inspection and 3D modeling of the Normandy Bridge. This operation aimed to assess the structure's current condition, identify potential anomalies or signs of deterioration, and establish a precise visual and technical database for future analytical requirements.
The Normandy Bridge—an iconic cable-stayed structure commissioned in 1995 and spanning 2,143 meters—recently underwent a high-precision inspection using professional-grade drones. Utilizing the DJI M300 RTK, equipped with advanced sensors and high-resolution cameras, over 20,000 photographs and videos were collected in real-time, enabling a visual analysis of exceptional detail.
This data was leveraged through specialized software to produce a comprehensive 3D model of the bridge, including its 856-meter main span and its pylons reaching heights of 214.77 meters. This innovative approach enhances safety, reduces the risks associated with manual inspections, and facilitates access to areas that are otherwise difficult to reach.
Photogrammetry ensures remarkable accuracy, providing a reliable foundation for maintenance and structural analysis. Furthermore, this process enables a significant reduction in inspection time, overall costs, and traffic disruptions.
